At Liverpool we take great pride in the way we support our club. Not for us the knee-jerk, gnashing of teeth by fans fed and led by the media. We be lone spirits, we know what is best for our club. We trust our own people every day of the week to sly sports or the Daily Fail.
No one can tell us how to support our club because no one knows better than us. This is what infuriates and alienates so many journalists. They have no control over our real fans, they can’t press our buttons. Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Moran, Dalglish, Evans, Benitez even Houllier, were our people, people we trusted, people who were appointed in the Liverpool Way. These men were backed by the KOP. These men were given every chance as we knew they were the right people at the right time.
So how do we equate the treatment of Roy Hodgson? Are we not now just another football mob bating for the manager’s head? No we are not. Hodgson has some influential friends in the media, the ones who called us stupid to back Rafa, and call us stupid now for not backing Roy.
Alls I ask is for our new owners, NESV, to trust what the fans are telling them. Hodgson is not one of our people! Pick your man and we will trust you, but trust us first.

Although I did frown on his appointment as manager, but lets all give him some time. He may not has produced the kind of result that we all want, it's too early to be calling for his head. We Liverpool supporters are not that kind that turn our backs on the manager just because the team is not doing well and boo them off the field although they deserve it sometimes. We do not equate ourself with other fans who are impatient.
We support the team and the manager, but we don't like the manager so change him, and we'll back the new one like we normally do. Do you not see the contradiction in that?
Hodgson has been here five minutes and you want to change him. As you say, the Liverpool way is to support the manager until they prove that they are not up to the job. I didn't particularly like Roy Evens and don't think he should have got the job, and I think Souness changed too much too quickly and was quite arrogant, which served him well as a player, but not as a manager, but they were the Liverpool managers and so had my backing as every Liverpool manager should have.
The team are improving, results are starting to happen, and there are plans being put in place for the long term. But that should all be put in jeopardy because 'we' don't think he is the right man. The fan revolution in trying get rid of the previous owners has given some the idea that we have a big say in things, which we don't, and neither should we.
Is the change because Hodgson is not a media maverick like Benitez, and actually had the backing of the media? ;-) 'If they think he was the right chap for the job, surely he can't be right'. ;-) lol
Let's face reality. Since the team is erractically improving, I don't think relegation is a likely possibilty. The thought of even qualifying for next year's Champion's League is a LONG shot. Let's give Hodgson a chance this season to at least be able to maintain last year's position or better still - IMPROVE. Let this be the benchmark for him .... then we'll see how.
Hi i am a Liverpool fan out of South Africa it is all good and well to say that we need to give hodgson a chance but at what exspense if we dont make it into the top four for chapions league football. The cost of losing all our top players will set us back another 5 years under Hodgson.
There is something about Hodgson that does not feel the Liverpool way. But let's not forget that NESV did not hire the current manager and wth the years of turbulence under the previous owners it would have been unprofessional and unwise of them to come in and make sweeping changes. They have been meticulious in everything that they have said so far, even with regards to the stadium...I hope Hicks and Gillett have noted that there was no upset regarding the comment about the stadium because they did not promise things that they could not deliver...i.e all words and no actions can be spotted by a scouser a mile off...that's why Hicks and Gillett failed. I am not wishing Hodgson to fail because then Liverpool would be failing and I put the team first rather than any individual. I am not a Hodgson fan and I too wanted Kenny but at the same time I wanted Rafa to stay, whether that meant Torres and Gerrard leaving. I believe that to date since Hodgson took over, with the players at his disposal we have played like Fulham and will not develop in the way a Liverpool team should be developing. He has had an argument with Pacheco apparently and that has resulted in this young prospect being ignored..not the first time that Pacheco has been on the end of a heavy hand at Anfield. All I can say is time will tell and I think in the long run NESV are not stupid and will realise that ambition for this club and the tenure of Hodson do not exactly go hand in hand..so let's watch the space, but also let's not turn the man into a target of bullying, he does have a knowledge and must be respected.
All of those wanting to give him time, because that's the Liverpool Way, must face the fact that Hodgson was not appointed in the Liverpool Way.
For the first time in living memory we appointed someone whose career record, win percentage and dismal away form was far and away more inferior to the previous managers record. In the past we've always appointed someone who, at the time, was the best man to take us forward, even when it hasn't worked out that way. That principle was always there. Not with Hodgson though.
Hodgson has no class whatsoever either on or off the pitch, the man is a carbuncle on our club, and I hope when the media darling has left we never mention him again. Nice man? You must be fuuucking joking.

IMO hodgoson will be given till the end of the season and if we dont get CL then he will be let go. i think this is fair as we cannot judge him on the back of a few games, after all Rafa and Houlier started poorly. In the summer we should go for a manager with a good overall record and not Kenny dalgliesh. remember what happened with Shearer!!

Do you really believe Roy could get 4th? If not, isn't it better to get someone in who can? Would you still wait until the summer if it meant our best players in Reina and Torres would leave? Do you think his defensive thinking will change during the season, or will he continue his midtable-team tactics? Do you think he will stop sucking up to Fergie and the FA? Do you trust him to sign good players, when you see what he has already brought in? Do you think he will stop slagging off the fans?
To many questions! Pack your bags now, you are not up to the job.
Look, i always try to be as fair-minded as they come when it comes to all things LFC and on his arrival, i wished RH all the very best and liked a lot of the things he was saying. Pre-season, his realism/pessimism came off as sensible given the turmoil inflicted by the hicks/gillet axis-of-evil.however, i simply love the club too much to persist in blind faith when the man has been tactically inept, weak on team-selection and substitution, disingenuous with fans and media and had a destructive effect on morale with his countless public gaffes concerning players,
Scouse Billy Lol, just as well the board of LFC couldn't give a @#$%& what you write here.
Hodgson is a good man - time will tell if he has what it takes.
P.S. Born and bred Scouse - 4th Generation shareholder (pre-Hicks and Gillett) NOT from Norway or South Africa. Hahaha.
Why the need for the PS? I'm also a born and bred Scouser and have served my time in all parts of the ground since the late 60's, so piiiss off with your 4th generation share holder @#$%&.
You are also wrong, imo, with your Hodgson is a good man. Hodgson can't see past himself and will blame anything or anyone for his failures. No guts, no class, no persona. The man is an utter tiiit.

Given the situation RH has had to deal with since arriving, I say he has done well.
I've followed his career since he was the Swiss manager - most people would agree he is a man of integrity and a true football man. You seem to know better. I wonder hopw and in what capacity. Calling yourself a militant internet terrorist seems a little fanciful perhaps the mark of a fantacist even
Give the man a break will you, have some humility! Who the hell wouold replace him? Do you think kenny would do any better? what if he got the job and failed, would we just swap him for someone else? we could turn into Newcastle with all of this manager changing! Just have some patience and let Roy have a go! I think its disgusting that people are on his back like this...
I think that too many Liverpool fans have got too big for their boots and think that they have a god given right to shout and scream their way to success! SOS and a bunch of classles scallies... We have not been a one of the prems big boys for years, yes Rafa gave us a bit of pride then he lost the plot...he was just as much to blame as the Yanks!
Get off Roys back because you because I feel the only person that could come in and take over should be Jose M, or even Ancelloti would be good!
Have some class fans, and stop screaming like a bunch of spoilt kids who cant get their own way..
Whether you think he's the right man or not, changing a manager so quickly destabilises the club even more, and leads to another phase of buying and selling players that a new manager inevitability brings.
A manager needs time to buy the players he wants and moulds the team to the way he wants them to play, he should at least be allowed to make a go of it. If he fails then so be it, but changing just because you don't like him or that he has friends in the media or whatever is pointless. It is whether he does the job and get results.
Do we want to go down the Newcastle route, 13 managers in 20 years? Part of our strength through the years has been stability, at least as far as the manager is concerned, until he proves that he can't do the job we should get behind him.
Scouse Billy So we disagree - so what?

Sorry but you are no fecking Reds fan, that is quite obvious. If you want to wind up you'll have to do a bit of research. Any REAL Red would know why I call myself a militant internet terrorist.
Go away and take that tiiit with you.

You can think it's disgusting all you like, personally I put the club first not some never was and never will be a good manager. The longer he stays the worse it will get and God forbid the idiot is given money to spend. Frightening. Kenny would do a great job till the summer and someone younger comes in. Even if he fails no-one would deride him because .....HE'S ONE OF US...ffs.

No he wasn't, and how disrespectful is that to put him on a par with the two cancers? Not too big for my boots at all. I've been brought up to expect the best we can get, why should I change my expectation. Hodgson was not the best available and if that @#$%& Purslow thought Hodgson was the man for the job it's obvious why he never before had any power at a football club. We have always been a successful club, we exist to win trophies and though we haven't won a title for a long time, we have carried on winning trophies.

No way do we want Mourhino, he's not a builder, he's a spender. I'll scream all I want, you eff off with your defeatist attitude, just like our manager.

scouse billy is misguided, he cant see the man dosnt have the essential qualification he does not love liverpool fc.
you can see it is his actions and hear it when he talks, its a job to him. it was much more than that to the other liverpool managers. billy i was born and bred within the sound of the old kop roar.

You should be ashamed of yoursefl Reds, saying you would rather have Kenny even if he fails..what is your mentality.

I think that the majority of the reds would have Jose, but then again the majority ignored how embarrassing Rafas rants were last year...
I feel sorry for some of the fans who just are so fickle
I think you'll find that most of the match going Reds would not like Jose as manager.
Kenny could not possibly do worse than this idiot, but yes, if we are going to fail I'd rather it was with one of our own.
Rafa didn't rant at all, and every last word he said in his FACTS PC was the truth. I am proud that he was manager of our club and will always regard him as a legend. He never embarrassed me, ever, plus he gave us some of the greatest nights we've had in the last 20 years.
If you want embarrassment look at the clown we have at Liverpool at the moment. Now that is embarrassing, on and off the pitch.

Sure, one away win and four losses in seven not to mention being completely outplayed by Stoke & Wigan, one away win all last year with Fulham and just three the year before. Fire him now or later, Hodgson just doesn't know how to play away.
People need to stop reacting emotionally and just look at the bare facts: Hodgson has not shown the positive tactics or ability to motivate the players away, has 5 points from a possible 21 away from Anfield and 2 came from an 87th minute goal!
I am not happy with Roy's results or performances to the media but he has a difficult job, very difficult and he inherited a demoralised squad. I was gutted Kenny didnt get the job, but you can see where the logic was, the board just didnt want to risk Kenny's reputation being tarnished if he failed. And I bet most felt Roy was not a bad choice considering the circumstances..
So why cant we just back him while he is here? why cant we let him learn from his mistakes? and why cant the payers take some of the blame..
But one thing I will stand by is the amount of fans screaming for his blood are out of order.
Who the hell is available to take over Liverpool FC? give me a manager? and dont say Caragher player manager or kenny either? It is too risky to keep swapping and changing and I think the fans are making the situation worse..
I felt last year if SOS put as much effort into rallying the fans to support the team as they did scream in the streets then we might have had a better season..
Ive noted a few responses deriding the atricle ,claiming the high moral ground regarding the treatment of Hodgson .Its not the "Liverpool Way" to turn on the manager etc .No it isnt thats the point it goes totally against the grain .I ask is it the "Liverpool Way" to undermine publicly your most successful manager in a generation ? Is it the "Liverpool Way" to have an agenda were by you use the media to denegrade your manager? Bearing in mind this man took us to two European finals.Went to Madrid ,Milan,Turin ,Barcelona and won .Made us the number one seeded team in Europe .Amassed 86 points 07/08. All this accomplished whilst fighting our corner in the boardroom with the worst criminal owners in the history of modern football .So SCOUSE BILLY its the Liverpool Way to sack Rafa after one bad season ? Hodgson is the last reminance of the old regime and he stinks the house out .Here for the wrong reasons ,here because of a digusting agenda to oust a lgend .Oh and by the way ask the media in Scandinavia ,Switzerland and Italy what they think of our nice old gentleman Roy. Hes regarded their as a looney old fool ,forever throwing his rattle out of the pram .To many so called reds have embarrassed themselves listening to murdochs mantra on slysports ,wise up OUR TEAM OUR CLUB OUR CITY.
In rafa we trust. He brought in the likes of torres, reina, johnson, kuyt, skertel, lucas, maxi, ngog who are still in our first team regularly. If only you asked these players, would they rather have rafa or hodgson as manager. But then again, rafa is gone, RH is here. So why talk about rafa? Oh... cause Roy did??? Come on Roy, you're half the coach RAFA was.. at least be half the man. Start winning with the players you have, and dont blame Rafa for leaving behind a bad squad. Most of this squad brought liverpool to 2nd place in EPL 2 years back. I'd rather have us fighting with the cause with Benitez though, he seems more of a Scouser than RH could ever hope be.
rafa won the champions league with a lesser squad than the present one and his tenure started with far bigger injury problems and he never made it an excuse, not once. dont get me wrong i'm glad he has gone because he lost his focus.
we have the players to win a cup now and we can add to the team in january but all we get is pesimism. thats what really gets me no fighting talk.
hodgson has demonstrated thus far his inability to lead a club with high expectations. He has made too many tactical and general management blunders to suggest he has what it takes to manage liverpool. We may as well get someone else in now who has a future at the club. Who knows, perhaps that person could even salvage something from this season.
