Robbie Keane signs for Liverpool - Official

By Mighty Reds
July 28 2008

Robbie Keane has finally signed for Liverpool in a deal that will keep him at LIverpool for the next four years. It was thought the deal wouldn't be announced until Spurs had found a replacement so maybe an announcement by Spurs is imminent. Keane will be Rafa Benitez's 5th arrival this summer.

The deal is believed to have cost the Reds 18 million with add ons taking it to 20 million.

Keane is captain of the Republic of Ireland team and has long been known to be a Liverpool supporter.

Daniel Levy appears to not have wanted to sell Keane so it begs the question, why did he?

He was sold because he had put in a transfer request as Liverpool had already approached him for which they have apologised and paid an undisclosed sum to the Spurs charity in return for Spurs no longer pursuing their complaint to the Premier League

Now why would Judas Keane want to go to a club that wins sod all and further drive a nail into the coffin of the Premiership as 16 other teams go under due to all their players wanting to go to Chelsea/Man U/Liverpool/Arsenal

an assault on the old lady methinks.

Fan of Competitive Football, why would he come ta us a club that wins sod all.....

because he's a Liverpool supporter thats why pulling on that RED shirt means more than winning trophies. Thought a fan of competitive football would know that...?

How many times have we heard that we've been had? Last years other fans were saying Torres would be @#$%& and wasn't worth 20 million anyway.

In Rafa we trust

Fekin hell were do these cretins come from "LFC a team that wins sod all" i wont wallow in our glorious past but to say in the past couple of years ive been to two European Cup Finals ,FAcup final , Super European cup finals i could go on but there you go. As for Keane a master stroke by Rafa the perfect foil to play behind Torres. Awin win situation Spurs new manager wants money so 18 million will do him fine i dare say , Keane steps up to the big time so everyone should be happy.

A good buy 20.3million is a lot of dosh but i think it is well spent.Torres and Keane up front will be very tricky to defend, lots of pace from them two.It could be a good season for the pool maybe second in the prem and chelsea winning it,what you say.

A good, intelligent and most importantly proven Premiership player who always gets his share of goals and is intelligent enough to create too. Looks like Liverpool paid a premium on him because Spurs didnt want to sell but could turn out to be money very well spent.

Tottenham will be very happy to take the money i'd imagine.

Thing is though this could be the signing of the summer. Suddenly Liverpool have gone from being nothing more than a top 4 side to a proper title contender IMO. He'll feed Torres all day and work his @#$%& off for the sake of the club. Watch Tottenham struggle mid table this season.

Wish we actually played him when we had him instead of sitting him on the bench.

Hello Carra,Yes disappointed with the lampard scenario who wouldnt be,frank hasn't spoken out yet.The truth will come out soon,i think the truth is that frank wants away and by turning down a four year deal worth ex amount of millions tells you that its not about the money.Frank knows that chelsea will not give him a five year deal and its an excuse to go to Milan,i dont know whats happening with players these days.Anyway i am also looking forward to the new season there could be some surprises in store.

i think its great we now av d fire power we need .keano will fit perfectly into our formation 4-2-3-1.torres up front keano right behind him gerard and mascherano in midfield kuyt and babel on the wing carra n agger in defence and dossena and deggen on the flanks its a win win formula.

Still not convinced by Liverpool out wide. I hoped it would of been addressed before this coming season but I guess Rafa has his priorities.

20 mill is the going rate these days...

but yeah, at 28 it seems like dead money.

but they said that about zidane when he went to Real, ok hes not as good as zidane, but he'll do fer me.

In comparison to the strikers wearing red shirts over the last few years he's light years ahead of them.

Good solid start for keane, fitted in well & looked comfortable. Did try a tad too hard, but obviously trying ta impress.

Showed his experience & qualitys, guiding other players during game & swapping positions that was good.

Looking good...smiling smiley

for 15 mill extra we could have got a much younger, and much more talented robinho!!

i no its probable he wouldnt come here but the fact we are chasing that calibre of player would have been a boost to fans and an insentive to other pottential signings.
