WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers today unveiled their new state of the art training facility and also unveiled the name of the private road leading to the door, "Douglas Turner Way"

Wolves today unveiled the new state of the art, £3.3M training base at Compton. The base has taken just over 12 months to complete and the base, named after Sir Jack Hayward, was opened by the man himself.

Wolves president Sir Jack told the clubs official website "The building looks magnificent and is something the club can be very proud of. It's a major investment for Wolverhampton Wanderers and one which we hope will bring benefits for decades to come."

The private road leading up to the ground is named after a lifelong Wolves Fan. Douglas Turner sadly passed away recently, but Wolves officials were staggered to hear he had left over £350,000 in his will.

Talking of Mr Turners love for the club, chief executive Jez Moxey said "He loved watching the team play, so we thought that the best way to thank him would be to further invest in the club's infrastructure which will help improve the standard of our players for generations to come."

Wolves Manager Glenn Hoddle added "All the players and coaching staff are very impressed. It's even bigger than we thought it would be. It's come at a good time for us because, with the winter just around the corner, using portakabins isn't the best way to prepare for training.

It will also be somewhere we can bring players we are trying to sign. Up until recently the training ground was the last place you'd show them - we'd always take them to Molineux instead. But now we have a facility that we can really be proud of."
