WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers come up against old boss Dave Jones on Saturday when Glenn Hoddle takes his Wanderers side to Cardiff City.

It was November 2004 when Dave Jones was given the chop, a move by the board which at the time was met with a very mixed reception.

"Dave Jones Gold And Black Army" was sang from the Southbank at Molineux in the games following his departure, whilst Glenn Hoddle received a very mixed reception as he was unveiled as the new man charged with taking the club to promotion.

However, looking back, it's clear that the majority of fans now do believe that - as harsh as it was - terminating the contract of Dave Jones was probably the correct decision, but the work the Cardiff boss did at Molineux will never be forgotten by the Molineux masses.

It would be hard to overlook some of the results Wolves achieved under Dave Jones, the superb football that was played and the huge amount of goals Wolves managed to score.

With the money he spent aside, it was Dave Jones who lead Wolves to Promotion on that glorious day back in 2003. It was his side who destroyed Newcastle United in the FA Cup four months earlier and it was Jones' side who fought relegation so bravely - and who can forget that win over Manchester United!

He will always be thanked and welcomed back at Molineux but this Wolves side is now under control by Glenn Hoddle and Wolves will be looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat by Leeds.

Despite controlling the game from start to finish and having a massive 21 shots, with 15 on target, Wolves saw their 22 game unbeaten record come to an end.

The 5-1 win over Chester in the Carlin Cup went some way to the building of what will hopefully be another unbeaten run, but Hoddle has said that big changes will be made to the side who's four second half goals killed of Keith Curle's men.

It's time to thank Jones for what he did but when the whistle blows, it's Wolves Vs Cardiff. If Wolves are to win the title, this is a must-win game.
