WOLVES boss Glenn Hoddle has blasted the players for their first half performance over Port Vale, despite completing the scoring in the 2-1 before the break.

A strong Wolves side, which included Hungarian International trialist Gabor Gyepes had to come from behind to beat Port Vale at Vale Park.

Vale took the lead as early as the 4th minute after being gifted a goal thanks to a rare mistake from Goalkeeper Michael Oakes.

Oakes could only parry a header from Vale Striker Hector Sam and the ball fell kindly to Billy Paynter who headed home from close range.

Wolves however reacted well and were soon on level terms. Nigerian International Seyi Olofinjana won the ball in midfield and his ball found Ricketts who played in Cort. The former Newcastle man composed himself and hammered the ball past Jonathan Brain in the Vale goal.

It was 2-1 shortly after and it was youngster Leon Clarke who grabbed the goal. The striker collected a pass from Ricketts and struck a composed shot from 20 yards into the roof of the net.

The second half turned into a non-event, with just Colin Cameron and Gyepes having efforts on goal.

After the game, speaking to the clubs official website, Glenn Hoddle said "I wasn't happy with the way we played in the first-half even though we came in 2-1 up.

"We only wanted to play when we had the ball. After the break we pressed them properly and put them under a lot of pressure and consequently they kept giving us the ball because we forced them into errors. I wasn't happy with the attitude and I told them that at half-time. But, to be fair to them they responded."
