NEW Wolves signing Jackie McNamara has said that Wolves are a Premiership club playing in the wrong division. McNamara signed from Celtic today. New Page 1 New Page 2 New Page 1

The former Celtic captain signed a two year deal at Wolves today and told a packed press conference that he thought Wolves were a Premiership club simply playing in the wrong division.

The Scottish 2004 writers player of the year said “I want to play in the Premiership and as far as I’m concerned, Wolves are a Premiership club in the wrong division.”

News broke of the proposed signing over the weekend, but at the time Wigan and West Ham were in the hunt for his signature.

“I made my mind up last night and gave my word to Wolves and Glenn Hoddle I would sign. So as far as I was concerned, all I had to do was travel down today and have the medical."

It is believed Celtic made a very lucrative offer to keep Jackie at Celtic, but the Scottish International turned down the deal.

Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey added “Celtic went into overdrive to keep Jackie and we see this as a massive coup for our club.”
