JEZ Moxey has explained to BBC Radio WM why the contract talks with Glenn Hoddle are taking so long. Moxey is also "optimistic" that a deal can be struck.

Wolves had hoped that a deal with Glenn Hoddle could have been signed by Friday dinnertime but due to a problem with the talks Moxey has now said that an announcement won't be made until next week.

However in an exclusive interview on Radio WM, Chief Executive Jez Moxey has tried to clear some points up.

"The first part of our negotiations were all about the club, our plans, me understanding from Glenn what he wants and him understanding from us what we can provide, discussing all those issues and deciding what we need to take the club on to the next stage. Those were all to Glenn's satisfaction"

"The second part were all about contracts and just because it has taken time supporters shouldn't assume its because we are haggling. Its normal for contracts to take a long time and we are getting close to completing that process" Said Moxey.

"We have talked a lot about the pitch, the team, the backroom staff, the financial state of the club and I have been really encouraged because Glenn Hoddle likes to have logical discussions and his attention to detail is outstanding. I am very encouraged to be at the stage where we could be signing one of the best managers in the country"

When asked on how long the contract would be, the Chief Executive refused to comment, however he did add "I'd be quite happy for him to be with us for a very long time. We want continuity. As far as I am concerened and as long as he is doing a good job he can stay for as long as possible, many many years."

"Many have slipped between cup and lip but I remain optimistic that Glenn Hoddle wants to be with us, we want to be with him and where there is a will there is a way, but he has not signed yet and lets hope that over the next few days we can get him signed and have an enjoyable summer."
