THE latest rumour surrounding the contract of Glenn Hoddle is that the former England boss is on his way to French Champions Olympique Lyon. New Page 2 New Page 1

Hoddle was expected to sign a contract at Molineux today but the deal had to be called off at the last minute due to what Jez Moxey described as a "hitch". The delay has sparked an outbreak of rumours.

The former Spurs boss has been linked with West Ham for several months as fans believed Hoddle was holding out on signing a Wolves contract until the future of West Ham boss Alan Pardew had been confirmed.

However today it has become clear that Hoddle is being linked with a move abroad and to take the job of "head coach" at French Champions Lyon.

Former Lyon coach Paul Le Guen decided not to renew his contract at the home of Ligue 1's top side during the season and left at the beginning of the week.

Now Hoddle has been linked with a move back to France and Lyon would see the appointment of a former England boss as the ideal replacement for Le Guen, a former Paris Saint Germain star.

Hoddle played in France at Monaco for four years in his playing days and is a huge icon on the south of France.

However this is nothing more than speculation as Wolves bosses hope Hoddle will put pen to paper at the beginning of next week.
