Fans favorite Newton joined West Ham on Thursday for a fee of £10,000. The fee is so small due to Newton being out of contract in the summer, but Wolves will receive and extra £115,000 if West Ham are to win promotion.

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle told WOW "We are happy to let Shaun go for a nominal fee as he is so close to the end of his contract, he hasn't been in the first team in recent weeks and it is better for all parties if he can get a move and be playing somewhere else."

Newton joined Wolves in the summer of 2001 for a fee which later rose to over £1M. He was part of the side which clinched promotion to the Premiership, played over 115 times for the club, scoring 12 times.

"Shaun is a good pro and I'm sure he will do well for West Ham. We wish him all the best." Said Hoddle.

Hoddle also admitted that he hopes to secure a deal for a mystery midfielder over the weekend.
