A BRACE from former Derby County Star Kevin Cooper was enough to earn Wolves three very important points at a subdued Molineux stadium on Tuesday. Cooper scored a penalty in the first half and a free kick in the second to send his old club packing.

A BRACE from former Derby County Star Kevin Cooper was enough to earn Wolves three very important points at a subdued Molineux stadium on Tuesday. Cooper scored a penalty in the first half and a free kick in the second to send his old club packing.

Derby County can feel hard-done to. Not because of any dodgy decisions, but because Wolves chose to score a penalty against them.

The boys from Molineux had missed 5 of 7 penalties taken this season before Kevin Cooper slotted his spot-kick past Grant in the Derby Goal after first choice 'keeper Camp had been sent off for felling Colin Cameron.

If Derby had thought they had their spout of bad luck out the way once Wolves had scored the penalty, Derby-Fan Kevin Cooper scored a free-kick.....for the first time in his career.

"I have never scored from a free-kick before and I probably never will again! But, it felt good." Said Cooper after the game. 

However Cooper, who started for only the second time in 19 months, was pleased with the points, despite scoring twice against the side he loves.

"It was a strange one because, obviously, I am a Wolves player and have a job to do but I am also a Derby fan, I have been all my life, and I don't hide the fact," said Kevin.

"They were always going to be up against it with just ten men but I will get a tough time when I go home next. The result, and my part in that, will matter a lot to everyone back in Derby but I guess I'll just have to buy my mates a few drinks and it will soon be forgotten!"

Wolves will now look to take 3 more points off QPR on Saturday.
