As a girl playing football it isn’t easy to do as well as you would like or do as well as the men. We all know that women’s football will never be as famous as the men’s game but that isn’t down to the players How often is a women’s football match on the television? The only women’s game that has been on terrestrial television this season is the women’s cup final. Whereas there has been many men’s games which have been televised.

It is not that I am a feminist it is just I think there is something which we can do to put women’s football on the map and people just can’t be bothered! It’s not the players’ faults, it’s not the fans faults, it’s societies fault and the people who own the big television companies, faults.

Women’s football has to be given a chance without a chance it won’t go anywhere. As a player for about six seasons at the same club I have seen changes to the game and I have seen that the game has grown but football is still classified to many as a man’s game. Do you classify it as a man’s game? How many professional men’s clubs are there in Britain? Well in women’s football there is one! One.

It’s not even your Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool it is in fact Fulham. A team which, battled for survival in the premiership last season yet are a massively successful women’s football team winning both the league and for the first time the women’s F.A cup. So why are they so far ahead of the rest of the teams? Because of the money which their chairman brings in. He has spent millions on making that team and although he has primarily worked on making the men’s team successful he has also been ever willing to make the women’s team work and that is why at Fulham now they have some of the best players in the country at their club.

So with the other premiership clubs lagging behind it is about time that some money was invested into women’s football because as they say you have to speculate to accumulate. It wouldn’t take much to put it on the map all it needs is one bright spark and that would make women’s football much better off than it is at the moment.

My final point is that the largest crowd for a women’s international is just over 14000 people and where was it held Selhurst Park. Not exactly Wembley or Old Trafford is it?

I was glad that such a large crowd turned out to the international against Germany but why isn’t it successful as the men’s game-because people the television companies don’t think it will sell.
Well believe me it will because at the minute women’s football is the fasting growing sport in Britain!
