WOLVESFC.CO.UK are saddened to hear the news that Wolverhampton Wanderers fan and season ticket holder Stephen Smith has died following a mugging whilst he celebrated England's win at Euro 2004.

Stephen Smith, 28, had been traveling the world and was supporting England in Lisbon last night when an attempted mugging left Stephen Smith with serious stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead on the Arrival at Sao Jose Hospital.

Wolves Chairman Rick Hayward, who was at the England game last night said “To hear this news is really distressing and shocking particularly as the atmosphere in the city after the game had been so good.


“I’m sure that I speak on behalf of everyone connected with Wolverhampton Wanderers when I offer our sincerest condolences to Stephen’s family and friends.”

Wolvesfc.co.uk would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Stephen Smith.
