WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers returned to the top flight of English Football exactly a year ago to the day following a superb 3-0 win over Sheffield United. Unfortunately, promotion has to be done all over again...

 

26-5-04 - That day will live long in the memory of all the gold and black faithful throughout the World. For 90 heart-stopping minutes Wolves sent their opposition to the slaughter. Mark Kennedy, Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller put Wolves into a stunning 3-0 half-time lead, before Matt Murray pulled of a penalty save from Michael Brown in front of a packed Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

 

The headline on this website on that Bank Holiday evening simply read "We've Done It", whilst The Sun turned their famous Red banner Gold, with the headline "Back Where They Belong" the following day. The Daily Mirror carried similar headlines, with front and back page exposure.

 

It was a day which will never be forgotten and it was a day which was added to the fantastic history of this great club.

 

It was the day which allowed Wolves to beat the Champions Manchester United at a packed Molineux and cause the biggest come-back in Premiership History when, after trailing 3-0 at Half Time Wolves overturned the odds to beat Leicester City 4-3.

 

It was a magic day. It was our day. 

 

This Giant was asleep for 19 years. On this day last year it awoke. A week last Saturday it dozed off again and, if we all stick together, a year from now we could be very much awake once more.
