NATHAN Blake has become the first player to be told his contract will not be renewed and has said he would relish a return to Cardiff - the club he supported as a youngster.

 

Nathan Blake has become the first player to be officially told he will not be having his contract renewed after Wolves were relegated to the Coca Cola Football League.

 

Eight players still remain uncertain of their futures, but Blake has spoken out after he received the news that his Wolves career had come to an end. Dave Jones has a transfer kitty of £7M to strengthen in the summer and does not see Blake as part of his long-term plans.

 

The Welsh International who scored in Wolves 3-0 play-off win over Sheffield United has said that he would love the chance to return to Cardiff and admitted that winning another trophy would be nice.

 

Of course Cardiff would appeal to me, that goes without saying. But we'll wait and see." Said Blake

"I just want to play for another couple of seasons and try to win a trophy somewhere. I'd be more than satisfied with that." 

 

Denis Irwin has retired and Alex Rae is set to sign for Rangers but a handful of players including Paul Ince, Vio Ganea, George Ndah and Paul Butler are all unsure of their future.
