It was cold, it was dull and it
was not pretty, but that does not matter. Wolverhampton Wanderers are
through to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup against West Ham United after
seeing off Kidderminster Harriers 2-0 at Molineux.
Dave Jones opted to rest a whole
host of players. Alex Rae and Colin Cameron were on the bench whilst
Irwin and Paul Ince failed to feature on the pitch or the bench.
Neither goalkeeper was
tested as both teams saw shots fly just wide of the post. Vio Ganea,
starting his first game for Wolves was the first to see his shot fly
past the post before Kidderminster had two shots wide of the post, the
second a long range drive from ex Molineux youngster Graham Ward.
Wolves however took the lead
mid-way through the first half. Mark Kennedy floated a left-wing
free-kick into the box, Ganea nodded the ball towards the back post and
Kenny Miller nodded the ball over the top of the Kidderminster `Keeper
into the back of the net.
The second half saw much of
the same. Neither keeper had much to trouble them, until Michael Oakes
appeared to be hurt in a challenge with Kidderminsters Bo Henriksen; Cue
mayhem and a 10 man braw. Henriksen, Andrews and Oakes all booked.
"Premier League Your
Having a laugh" was the chant from the 4,000 Kidderminster Fans,
and how we would have liked the luck linked with thesecond goal to have
come in a Premiership game.
Kenny Miller crossed the
ball into the box which eluded all attackers, defenders and Brock in the
Kiddy` goal. The ball bounced off the post at which point the linesman
awarded a goal after feeling the ball had crossed the line. It hadn`t,
but we don`t care.
Kidderminster tried, but
neither team had a notable chance from then on. The Kiddy fans continued
to chant their song, "Football League Your Having A Laugh" was
the reply.
