May The 26th 2003 will be a day that will live long in the memories of the lucky 30,000 who had a golden ticket to the Millennium Stadium. A ticket to enter with their beloved Wolves, the door to the Premier League.

Almost 20 years of hurt had passed before that glorious May Summer Day. The day the Giant Awoke, the day Wolverhampton Wanderers entered back to the top flight of English Football.

Just Seven months on and the hurt and pain is slowly raising it ugly head, no more than to the fans which traveled to White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Once the huge wave of euphoria which had ceased the Black Country had died down, Wolves backroom staff started to plan Wolves survival in the Premier League. Something which appears to have been done with disastrous effects.

Dave Jones was given a pathetic and inadequate £4m to spend on players - Something we are sure the Manager did to the best of his ability, but something which had landed Wolves in deep bother, just Days after the glorious excitement of that Cardiff day.

The Premier League season got off to the same disastrous start that the boardroom had made to their planning of the survival of a club which "deserves to be in the Premier League". A 5-1 thumping by Blackburn Rovers, who were later to be stuck alarmingly close to the relegation border line and a 4-0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Just two signings Jones had made were to play any real part in the opening 15 Premier League games, but two Premiership Players for £4m is good business, especially if you take into account that Jones had to stretch his £4m across a whole squad and a handful of players.

Earlier in the season, Wolves had been handed the shattering news that Sir Jack Hayward was to give the Club away. What`s more, it was also announced that should the Club not find a suitable owner before the January Transfer window, then costs would have to be cut.

Two recent trips to North London, Arsenal and Spurs respectively had lead to Wolves conceding 10 goals in just 180 minutes of Football.

The Players were not at the races for the Cup Tie at Highbury but the Players gave it their best shot at White Hart Lane. Spurs were totally flattered by the score line, but its the harsh reality of what is going on which hurts Wolves more than the humiliating performances on the pitch.

The Players are trying, they are simply not good enough. The thought of Lee Naylor playing against Henry was once a standing Joke, its now a harsh reality.

The longest serving member at Molineux tries and tries, defends and defends but, not for the want of trying, he will be skinned week in week out.

Jones has his hands at Molineux tied. He has done his best with a pathetic and inadequate amount of money. The players are doing their best, but after just 15 games, Wolves are rock bottom of the Premiership and staring the Nationwide in the face.

The only thing remaining for the loyal and suffering fans of Wolves is hope.

Hope that someone will take over the club and pour sufficient funds into the January transfer window to keep Wolves alive in the Premier League, but even then, who would actually want to come to Molineux?

The euphoria of Cardiff is now nothing more than a distant memory. The excitement of the Premiership is nothing more than a terrible scary Nightmare...
