Wolves Manager Dave Jones could sensationally be rapped for his outburst on Saturdays Referee Uriah Rennie, Pompey Manager Harry Redknapp also described the Phillips incident as "Incredible". The standards of Refereeing on Saturday had to be seen to believed. There has been a lot of Media interest in the Robert Pires decision at Highbury on Saturday. Robert Pires appeared to easily "fall over" in the box, referee Alan Wiley pointed to the spot, to the Pompey fans and Harry Redknapp`s amazement. Harry Redknapp told the Sun "I can`t believe it was a penalty and now my lad is close to a ban through no fault of his own. Some-thing`s got to be done". The Pires incident was bad enough, but it is nothing compared to the Penalty awarded against Wolves at the St Marys Stadium on Saturday. Kevin Phillips tumbled in the box after the slightest bit of contact with Denis Irwin and referee Uriah Rennie pointed to the spot. Harry Redknapp also had his view on the Wolves incident. The Pompey boss said "I watched Southampton against Wolves and was amazed when a penalty was awarded against Denis Irwin. Kevin Phillips` leg came up and caught Irwin`s knee. Phillips ran four more yards then went over - incredible" However Jones could sensationally be rapped by the FA after his outburst after the game where he described Rennie as "Useless" An FA Spokesman told The Sun "We Will look at what Dave Jones said and consider whether to take any action" .....Incredible! |
