Wolves are off to Sussex By The Sea this afternoon to match up against a very decent Brighton and Hove Albion side who have won four of their last six, their only defeat last week at St James Park. The Seagulls, who remain on a quest for European qualification, last lost at the Amex to Arsenal in early March. Yes, it’s another tough one which will present plenty of problems to a Wolves side firmly and fully back in relegation form. Miracles can happen however to top it all, Wanderers last beat ‘Albion’ in December 2021 when we were still good!! Having said that, Wolves managed a terrific 2-2 draw last season, two very late goals to earn a point to make for a remarkable finish. Trouble is the Old Gold scorers that day were Cunha and RAN who are now long gone! Additionally, how could our 6-0 away drubbing in Brighton be forgotten when Lopetegui was in charge? That was a chastening experience.
Of course, Wolves have failed to win away in the league this season, another indictment of this dreadful season, and should they fail to gain 3 points today or at Turf Moor, this will equal the 2003/04 season. The difference being that we ended up on 33 points then, something we could only dream of in 2026.
In terms of the team, Krejci is reported to be available today, as is Hugo Bueno who had a knee issue last week, however Sa and Johnstone are unavailable. A plus is that Tommy Doyles loan spell at The Blues has finished meaning he is back at Molineux and I for one would love to see him the squad today or even in the starting XI. Definitely a player to keep next season, if the Wolves management team haven’t upset him too much! The other key asset today, one for the starting line up is Arokodare’s hair. Whilst Tolu has laboured for much of the time, his long locks have created mayhem and confusion in defences, drawing opponents into rash tackles and unambiguous cases of violent conduct resulting in two clear and obvious red cards. Irony? Of course not! Armstrong’s appearance will be his century in the Premier League appearance, and so good luck to him on this milestone. He is a player who works so hard, however in this league and this team he is inevitably coming up short. Another player for next season perhaps, though it would be a little more encouraging if he had put just one or two of his chances away.
A comment on one of the home players today, Danny Welbeck, who at 35 years has scored 13 Premier League goals this season for Brighton. It’s not just his finishing though, he caused all sorts of problems and continues to get well and truly involved. A player who I have always liked, one wonders if Thomas Tuchel has got thoughts to include him in the England squad for the World Cup. Despite his age, I’d give him a go. Irrespective, a player who has looked after himself and has done football proud.
Okay then, enjoy the match, however you wish to follow it, let’s see what Wolves can produce today, my hope is that it will be a display to honour the faithful travelling fans. Good luck to our players …… in hope rather than expectation.

A dire half, no shots at all, just checked, we’ve had 25% possession. It’s a joke of a first half.
Think it will get worse 2nd half unfortunately.

You were down towards the Bratch then, love it down there, loved watching the barges go through the locks when I lived there too. The story of the name is interesting, I understand it was the GWR who added the ‘e’ at the end to make a distinction, as passengers were getting confused with Woburn and Wombourn!!
Second half has started
Mane takes, far post, Dunk clears, in and out, Mosquera from 6 yards hits the bar from a good Mane cross.
Better, at least.

A predictable result, a dreadful first half, a bit better and 3 or 4 good chances to score in the second half but we are toothless.
Overall terrible again.
Better when Bellegarde and Wolfe came on but that just slowed down the assault.
The commentator said that it will be a long way back to Wolverhampton for the traveling fans (true) but more importantly it might be a long road back to the premiership.
The worst part is that teams like Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford are demonstrating what they can do with limited resources; if you recruit and coach the right players it’s not necessary to be Man City or Arsenal to do ok in this league.

Pathetic, Rather see the kids play than these gutless cowards.
Feel for our fans travelling all that way again and then get rewarded with a performance where there was very little effort put in.
Fosun should refund the fans out of the players wages.

Yes, maybe it was a mistake. Certainly felt so when that last, wholly avoidable, goal went in .
And yet, here we are.
However being a Wolves supporter has often had its ups and downs; soon enough the Shi’s of Molineux will join the Bhatti’s and various other rogues/vagabonds who are ships in our dark night.
Anyway, enough of the philosophical BS. A fan I remain, though this load of cr4p barely deserve a cheer. BUT I did have a thought: at 76 years of age, and Wolves chances of early return to the Premiership being pretty low, next weeks visit of Fulham may be Wolves last game in the top flight during my lifetime. So I bought a ticket and am returning to UK for the weekend (using up resources that make the whole exercise ill-advised). I have zero expectations for the game, just this feeling that it’s gonna be a while!
Who knows; they might bounce back next season and I might live longer than Attenborough. My only other visit this season was our ill fated league cup exit to Chelsea. So Fosun aren’t spending much of my £. B…..ds.

Interested to see Edwards post match comments yesterday, quite accusatory about the players performance and whilst all true, not a great sign at all, fractious stuff from a manager. But behind him is Fosun and I haven’t an earthly clue what they are up to, what they think, where they see themselves or Wolves. what is their grand plan coz we all know we’ve been on the slide for seasons and this relegation was inevitable given the dreadful leadership at the top. We’ve all seen this pathetic whimper coming, presumably Fosun did too?
The only pleasure that Fosun give me now is that their “investment” (and that is all it is to them) is dwindling daily and that it is likely to fall further yet. Good. The only language these nincompoops understand. Rob didn’t walk into this minefield, he ran, for his boyhood dream. No cliches here about what happens to dreams, but Rob and his future etc etc just make me yawn. Maybe it’ll be alright, but doesn’t seem likely.
Meantime the club, like the town, is ours. Rusting corrugated roofs and crumbling concrete, or laser smoke-bomb light shows and executive lounges, it doesn’t really matter. After the latest bunch of journeymen (players, owners, fans even) have departed, a few will still come; hopefully to see a bit of decent football but mostly to reacquaint with their own ghosts and dreams.
