Wolves travel to Brum this afternoon to play Villa who have won five of their last six premier league matches. Wolves, in a sense of beautiful symmetry, have lost five of their last six premier league games. So what do we all think about today then? A barnstorming Wolves victory to signal the end of this awful run? Maybe a stretch, however today's picture is to evoke memories of better times and show the Villa programme on the day we reversed a two goal deficit in the last 10 minutes, to win 3-2 in a finale which was as barnstorming as you could get!

Okay, that was then but Rob Edwards would love to have the players of 2021 at his disposal today, and their collective team spirit too. As for today, what can we expect? Being as positive as I am able, it would be good to see a repeat of the Wolves effort we witnessed versus Palace (before they scored) and possibly get a bit of luck in front of goal. Trouble is, it was workmanlike at best, so the quality up front and creativity in midfield needs to improve two or three fold. Add to that more defensive stability and eradicating errors at tha back, and we have a team!

Villa, and all Villa fans, will be sensing blood from the off, and rightly so, expect them to get at us hard and quickly, so perhaps the strategy will be to frustrate?

'A strategy to frustrate'!! I mean, it's hardly a rousing pre match call to battle is it, but it's the best I can do today, nevertheless this Wolves fan would be happy to receive any argument from anybody to challenge the view it'll be anything other than another Wolves defeat today! I will be singing Rob Edwards praises if I am wrong and one day we will win again, that's a definite!

There will be genuine interest in the side selected at Villa, how did Edwards see it last week, will be make tweaks, or something similar. Tolu and Larsen up front together again? At the back, I at least felt Agbadou played okay.

Let's see how it plays out in front of a national Sky Sports audience?! Please not a drubbing.

Well, they have worked really hard and could easily be in front. At times it’s tough to watch and so slow when we have possession and opportunity to attack but the effort is very much there.
A terrific save from Martinez at the end of the half, the difference. Looked like both the Villa players and fans thought they’d just need to turn up to be 3 or 4 up by HT but Wolves have kept Villa park quiet.
Who knows how the second half will play out now, but at least at HT those Wolves players on the pitch have showed the fans some fight.
Larsens ‘goal’ was clearly offside, unfortunately.

So far so good and a bit unfortunate not to be ahead.
Must give the players some hope that they can squeeze a result.

A definite improvement but the net result is the same. Villa 1
Wolves 0. Interesting that their goal coincided when Joao was injured up the field and we were unbalanced in shape, nevertheless a cracking shot.

Better than the Palace performance for me because we created more and amazingly Martinez was the busiest keeper. We didn’t capitulate when we went behind and the side worked hard for 99 minutes. We just don’t possess the necessary acumen up front and too many promising positions ended up with sideways or back passes rather than going for it.

Thought Tchatchoua played well when given the ball, equally Agabadou was solid again, to be honest there were plenty of players who did okay.

We should have drawn this match, no doubt about that for me.

Hope for Wednesday at Molineux versus Forest? I’d say yes, but the overall picture remains black rather than old gold.

Spirited performance from the team, didn't think we got the Breaks in the game and didn't deserve to lose the game.
But at the end of the day unfortunately its yet another defeat.

Seems like Edwards has instilled a bit of belief and a better tactical setup.
Away to Villa was never going to be easy but for the first time this season we weren't brushed aside.

Still no clean sheet and four consecutive matches now without scoring but certainly a better performance. Unlucky at the end of the first half with the shot that hit the crossbar, although it was a good save, and Villa did also hit the bar in the first five minutes so it was all a bit even. Andre played well as did Tchatchoua and, at last, Agbadou. An improvement certainly but another defeat and all too little too late.
