Match Thread: AFC Bournemouth v Wolves 23.08.25 KO 3pm

Wolves got it right last week. A wonderful and moving tribute to Diogo Jota. What a player for Wolves, what fantastic memories. An utter tragedy for his family, two loved souls lost.

Wolves travel to Dean Court / Vitality Stadium this afternoon to a ground where Wolves have not lost in the Premier League. We only lose to them at Molineux …. reasons to be optimistic then?!

Both sides got off to losing starts last week, both conceding four goals each versus Liverpool and Manchester City. Both sides can also look to positives in their performances with Bournemouth giving Liverpool a real scare. As for Wolves, we definitely played well in parts, nevertheless we were overcome by class and quality combined with some poor Wolves defending and wasteful attacking. Certainly Vitor saw elements he liked as well, whilst acknowledging weaknesses. Comparing the two sides this afternoon, it is the ‘goals for’ column from last weekend which is the most worrying outcome for Wanderers. Still, it is only one game gone. Additionally, like Wolves, The Cherries have lost some important players from last season and are juggling a number of losses in defense. Can Wolves take advantage?

Talking of defending, Agbadou was especially disappointing last week, a player would often stood as a rock last season seemingly transferring his poor pre season into the league. Surely he’ll come good again.

Overall the form of Wolves is worrying, plus losing key players in the closed season. Rightly or wrongly I believe that you often take the seasons end form into the next and whilst we won six matches on the trot in March and April (F13 A4), since May we’ve now haven’t won in five games, losing four (F3 A12). Put simply, Wolves have the worst record of the 17 premier league sides who weren’t relegated. And then there’s the pre-season!! Gloom and doom!

Today, that will change! We’re 3/1, worth a punt?

This new look Wolves need a little time to bed in and hopefully there will be a few signings before the deadline, and equally hoping we don't lose Strand Larsen to Newcastle, there’s been so much discussion on that topic this week. This Isak stuff is so boring.

Vitor has indicated that our new man, Jackson Tchatchoua is available for this match, but a decision will be made today about his involvement. Vitor seems pleased with the defender’s signing stating Tchatchoua is “a fast winger that can also play as a wing-back. He has strength and he is powerful. He likes to attack the space and he knows how to create problems in the system we play." Good luck to the lad, and welcome.

From his press conference, Vitor clearly isn’t a fan of the transfer window still being open either, citing how disruptive it can be. It’s certainly a ridiculous circus, but that’s just my opinion.

Enjoy the match today. Events have conspired against me. I had the opportunity to travel up to Bournemouth but instead I’ll a watching Plymouth Argyle trying to avoid a fifth consecutive league defeat! I’ll do my best to follow Wolves with the weak signals in the stands.

Best wishes to all Molineux Way readers and contributors, please feel free to put your thoughts and comments in this match thread.

Up The Wolves ……. Good luck for 3 points!

Listening to the commentary and it is obviously Bournemouth who are bossing the match so far and their one goal lead probably flatters Wolves . Seems that once again we are having trouble stringing passes together and Bournemouth are quick on the counter constantly causing us problems. Toti already on a yellow so will have to be careful. Hoever off injured so new guy Tchatchua gets his first taste of the Prem.
Need to do much better in the second half if we expect to get anything out of this.

1-0. Wolves no points, no wins, no goals, doubt if we are going to be able to sign Krejci now.
Bournemouth have now beaten us to sign two forwards Wolves were after. All we need now is Strand Larsen to go to Newcastle & VP to resign .......

Didn't sound like we were really in the game and with Toti being sent off we virtually handed Bournemouth the points. Poor preseason and now two defeats doesn't auger well for morale and team spirit. We need points on the board quickly before there are insurmountable gaps. VP needs the transfer window to close and then at least he will know what he is working with regardless of any further additions.

That first 10-15 minutes especially was bl00dy awful. Deservedly went a goal down. Another bad ball by Agbadou putting Bellegarde under pressure but Bellegarde should have done better. I saw someone say that for Munetsi to start every match he must be sh4gging Vitor's daughter. I reckon he must be sh4gging Vitor himself. Blasted over the bar at 0-0, but I suppose he runs a lot. Not only two matches without scoring, it's two matches without even looking like scoring. Red card was correct decision. Of the few positives, Sa played well. He had no chance with the goal, made some good saves and took plenty of crosses. Tchatchoua looks decent and Hugo Bueno did ok when he came on.

Absolutely toothless in attack and that was with 11 players on the pitch.
Strangely I thought we played better with 10 men but never looked like scoring.
Team looked like they had never played together first 25 minutes, they were all over the place.
The passing most of the game was woeful to say the least yet again.
We need more options up front, we look so short without cunha and the ait nori runs.
Fosun have got just over 1 week remaining now to sort this shambles out and get some quality through the door.
Do I think it will happen, No.
Lost faith in Jeff shi and fosun long ago.
More chance of shi cashing in on larson.

Just watched the so called highlights! Not great.

Another Munetsi style miss early on. Credit to him because he’s always getting in great positions but he can’t finish for toffee. Perhaps he’ll make an exception next week versus the Toffees?

The goal was a mess wasn’t it. Bournemouth should have scored again bur rattled the bar. Great save by Sa and an easy decision for the red card.

I suppose the positive is we didn’t concede during the second half.

So the extended winless / losing streak continues.

I was at Plymouth Argyle who played well despite their lowly position and won 1-0, after four consecutive defeats. As I’m coming up to Molineux next week, I hope I can bring similar good omens to reverse another losing sequence.

And another thing, that third kit? What do we make of it?

Personally I am not a fan. Very spanglely and proving all that glitters is not old gold!

I'm not a fan either but I prefer it to the second kit.
