There we have it, it's Gresty Road on a July Saturday afternoon and a 3pm kick off, where Wolves will begin to dust off the summer cobwebs in preparation of the Lage new era. Last time we played there in the league was in our promotion winning season 2013/14 and we won 2-0.

No further announcements of pre-season fixtures have been made in the UK as yet, however there are reported plans for a foreign trip with the prospect of another friendly. No doubt like many across the country, Bruno and the management team will be examining the new UK travel rules, so as to not fall foul of COVID travel restrictions. Were that the case, may I make a suggestion, Torquay United, Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle are all terrific alternatives ...... a bit like the old days.

Moving on a little, changing the subject altogether in fact, you will know that as is custom, England play Germany in the second round of the Euros at 5pm on Tuesday 29th June. I reckon the teams are well matched, though obviously we will see! Please, don't let it go to penalties. Anyway, didn't know whether to mention this, however the date has omens for the England national side and mighty connections to Wolves - for on this day, 29th June 1950, England played USA in the world cup in Brazil. Billy Wright was captain, Bert Williams in goal and Jimmy Mullen up front. The result was calamitous for England, losing 1-0 to the Americans. Everything crossed that 29th June, from next week, will be known for a more pleasant outcome!
