With Leicester, Pompey, Reading and Nottingham Forest all winning early in the Day it was important that Wolves took at least a point from Rotheram to remain in touch with the pace setters.

Although the scoreline suggests a boring dull game this was infact an exciting game, with a great tempo. For the first time in a long while, all 22 players were from Great Britain or Ireland, this may be the reason for the high tempo game, either way, the game was a credit to British and Irish Football.

 Rotheram started the brighter and in a game where chancies were few and far between caused the early problems for Wolves. Midfielder Chris Sedgwick swung in a cross from the right-hand side and an unmarked Nicky Daws headed just over from 10 yards.

 This was the wake up call needed for the Wolves as Kenny Miller went on a run only to smash the ball wide of the far post - the move a carbon copy of that which he scored against Forest.

 Wolves were back in the game but in fact the Millers created their clearest chance in the middle of Wanderers' best spell of pressure. Striker Alan Lee played a clever one-two with Barker, before firing his shot across the face of the goal and inches wide.

 Dave Jones gave loan signing Carlton Cole his first run out in the Old Gold but the striker failed to make any impact.

All in all, a good game, but not the result the Wolves were looking for.
