As a Wolves fan I often find myself asking "Why do Walsall hate Wolves?". In a report done by the Walsall Sportnetwork site, some of our questions can be put to rest, well, sort of.
Wolves Fans very rarely chant anti-Walsall songs. Our Rivals are WBA, and always will be, we could not care less about Walsall, infact Wolves fans usually cheer when Walsall win, but why do the followers of Colin Lees Army hate Wolves so much?
Well, apparently its our fault, the fans. The Walsall website (saddlersfc.tk) states "With the Wolves, I can only put it down to one thing – the fans."
Ok, so I`m lost. I thought the general reason would be the fact that we are their local Rivals...
Wrong Again.
Apparently "when they lost out to Albion last year one fan at work was exclaim "It`s not fair." When asked why, he said "because we are the Wolves"
So although we have spent £15 Million and the players were still unable to motivate themselves for one of the biggest games of the season, Wolves fans are not given the right to say "its not fair, we are Wolves"
Well small Walsall, it isnt fair. We spent £15 Million and lost to our biggest rivals, we don`t expect to lose any game, and "its not fair" that we lost, it`s not fair on the fans.
One great point in the story states "Wolves fans would probably put this down to jealousy" - Spot on. Walsall would go barmy if allowed to spend £2 Million, never mind £15 Million. Walsall are jealous of the amount of loyal fans we have, the fantastic stadium we play in and our clubs history.
We don`t have a problem with Walsall singing ant-Wolves songs, and we will continue to cheer your odd `Good Result`, but remember, we just don`t care!
Last "Three" Meetings:
Walsall 0 Wolves 3
Wolves 3 Walsall 0
Wolves 3 Walsall 1
