BURNLEY 0-1 WOLVES - A debut goal for new signing Jemal Johnson was enough for Wolves to claim there second win of the season and earn Burnley their first defeat of the season.

Prior to the season you wouldn't have expected Wolves to equal the same start as last season after four games, but the win over Burnley Town today did exactly that with Wolves taking seven points from their first four games.

There were several changes from the side which lost to Preston last week. Lee Naylor - who is on the verge of a move to Celtic - was left out whilst Daniel Jones made his second ever start for Wolves on the left of Midfield.

Olofinjana made his first start in midfield for almost a year and mid-week signing Jemal Johnson started in attack with Leon Clarke. Jay Bothroyd missed out through injury whilst Liverpool loanee Darren Potter started on the bench.

This was another terrific battling display in line with the games against Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town. Daniel Jones on the left was a revelation, providing great width and a constant danger from set pieces whilst the lively Jamal Johnson gave the Burnley back four a nightmare with his pace.

It didn't take Johnson long to make his mark either. A long ball forward caught Burnley out and the quick Johnson nipped round the Burnley defence before racing towards goal, drawing the 'keeper out and slotting the ball home on the 19th minute mark.

  "I thought we were dominant for great spells and yet it was a big ball up the middle that led to the goal," Mick McCarthy said post match.

  "It was a good goal for JJ, although I don't think he hit it as cleanly as he'd like. He's quick and he's a threat. I thought he did excellently all round today."

Wolves were forced to defend more than they would have liked at times but the solid Gary Breen got a glowing reference from the manager. The boss also gave a mention to Daniel Jones too. The teenager saw one superb free kick come off the bar whilst a second free kick was tipped over by Jensen in the dieing minutes.

  "Gary Breen was terrific, I have spent a few years working with him and he has just got better with age." Said McCarthy.

  "And how DJ's free-kick didn't go in I'll never know. It came off the inside of the post so you'd expect it to go in but it wasn't to be."

Wolves now travel to Chesterfield mid week in the League Cup before hosting Luton Town at home next Saturday. More performances like this and the forecasted poor season may not be as bad as we all expected.
