WOLVES Boss Mick McCarthy is on the verge of snapping up Liverpool Midfielder Daren Potter on a season long loan. The 21 year old spent time at Southampton on loan last year.

The bad news is that the title refers to Darren Potter and not Harry Potter. Wolves are expected to complete the signing of Liverpool Midfielder Darren Potter. It's Harry Potter Wolves could do with at the moment, but Mick McCarthy believes Darren can do a job for the Wolves Midfield.

The 21 year old has played for Liverpool 14 times and spent the last six months of the previous season playing on loan with Southampton.

McCarthy, who insists his initials stand for Mick McCarthy and not Merlin the Magician, told the clubs official website   "He is a talented player and we are hoping to wrap things up on his loan pretty soon.

  "I watched him last year when he was playing for Southampton and he impressed me. He did excellently. He is a modern day centre midfielder, he is young and hungry and we are happy to see him here at Wolves."

Wolves have also had an undisclosed offer accepted for Blackburn Rovers' striker Jemal Johnson. The 21 year old impressed Mick McCarthy during a behind closed doors game against Northampton on Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson has failed to break through at Blackburn and has recently been on loan to Preston North End and Darlington.
