BREAKING NEWS: Simpson Signs 3.5 Year Deal With Newcastle

Terms and conditions have been agreed and confirmed by NUFC.co.uk between Newcastle United and Manchester United for defender Danny Simpson after his loan deal expired on Monday night. Simpson returned to Old Trafford the following day and has now signed a 3 and a half year contract for an undisclosed fee, following a medical.

Last week it was thought that talks had stalled due to financial constraints on players wages at the club however, Simpson who played 22 games for Newcastle in all competitions during the first half of the season and scored once, has now signed a permanent deal with the club and will continue to wear the number 12 shirt.

Manager Chris Hughton told the official site;

"We are delighted to complete a permanent deal for Danny. He's a player who has been with us since the summer and has played a key role during the first half of the season.

Danny is a very popular in the dressing room and he took no time at all to settle in. He was always a player we wanted to keep at the club and he was very keen to stay given how much he's enjoyed his time here."

Its good news overall. Like has been said before he is good enough for the championship and maybe will be able to improve with age and games for the premier.

It said in the Chronicle that hughton and calderwood sat down with him and convinced him to sign. Reading between the lines I think that he and his agent might have expected more wedge. It hasnt said but I would think he would have been offerd around 15k a week. Thats still not bad going in the first place and works out over 3.5 years at approx 2.7 mill. Alright if you can get it.

Wonder if he just realised that he was on to a good thing with us.

I think your right about the wages and you would imigane it will increase in the premiership. Simpson is obviously happy with the deal as he has signed a 3.5 yr deal instead of a shorter deal. I think it is a good thing that he is a young player as previously we have signed some over the hill players, and I would like to see more players of his age or even younger to come in.

At the moment we have some experienced people in who are performing so they cn learn from them
