5 Injuries & 1 Suspension Leave Little Choice For Hughton

Newcastle United have found themselves with another injury crisis for the umpteenth time. Caretaker manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that Joey Barton is unavailable for this weekend's trip to Ipswich Town with a foot injury, a knock-on effect of the same problem which he struggled with earlier in the season. The latest injury news means Newcastle, who lost in midweek to Peterborough, will be without Shola Ameobi, Jonas Gutierrez, Tamas Kadar and Danny Simpson who are all injured, in addition to Barton.

Danny Guthrie is also unavailable after he picked up a red card in the midweek Carling Cup game, leaving Hughton with little choice for selection and concerns of any other players pick up injuries over the coming weeks.

Ameobi and Jonas would have been planned for, as they have been out for a bit, The way Barton has played then he is no loss and either is Kadar with him not being in the first team. Simpson will be a huge loss like Guthrie, so thats a bit of a @#$%&. Still think we should have a strong enough team to do in Ipswich.

Reckon the team will be:
Harper
R.Taylor, Colo, S.Taylor, Enrique
Geremi, Smith, Nolan, Lovernkrands
Carroll, Harewood (providing he signs, if not Ranger)

Agreed, it looks waorse on paper than it actually is.
Heres to us bagging 3 points the Mora (Sm128)

Oh and if Roy Keane could get red carded (or better still sacked after we beat them) that would be the ultimate cherry on top (Sm100)

Makes the Harewood pickup all the more important. Lovenkrands in midfield, obviously. And we're not going to have much on the bench aside from whomever of Ranger and Harewood don't start.

4 3 2 1?

defence as above, then,
geremi smith butt
nolan lovenkrands
carroll?

would like to make the three look better but we are struggling arent we? if simpson was able to play, that would put ryan taylor into the three in place if butt

Or Geremi. Take your pick, though Butt does bring less into the team given that Geremi can still kick a ball.

Either way, I see Smith having to cover a lot of ground, and that can always lead to disciplinary problems with him. I hope he keeps his head.
