Khizanishvili: There Was Only 1 Choice - Newcastle

Georgia International Zurab Khizanishvili has told The Gazette how he turned down several other clubs in favour of joining Newcastle United, including league rivals Sheffield United. 27 year old Khizanishvili who signed from Blackburn on a 3 month loan deal is looking for his club debut with Newcastle today as he is cup-tied for their 3rd round Carling Cup match in midweek.

He told The Gazette;

"Coming to Newcastle was something very different for me. They decided it only on Thursday. I knew there were a couple of teams interested in me, but once I heard about Newcastle there was only one choice.

I'm sure they can get up at the first time of asking, and be back in the Premier League next season.

I know that Newcastle have some of the best support in football, and this can help. I want to play my part in that also. I know what it is like to play against that, so to play with them on your side will be incredible.

I've seen it for myself when I played for Blackburn."

Happy to have him, as we needed defenders desperately. Left Back or a Striker might have been a more pressing concern, but we certainly needed another Center back too. Hopefully he gives us some of that competitive fire his fellow countryman had.

Sounds like a good lad, he should add some depth and quality to the team
