Newcastle United will be looking for their 150th League win over Everton tomorrow as the sides meet for a 4pm kick off. Of the 31 times they have met in the Premier League Newcastle have won 14 to Everton's 10. Chris Hughton will remain in control of Newcastle, despite rumours circulating suggesting that manager Joe Kinnear will be picking the team. Hughton who stepped in as caretaker manager just before the side beat West Brom 3-2 will be hoping to build up a winning streak as he sees more players returning from injury.

Unfortunately performance wise the odds are stacked against Newcastle, who have failed to win in their last 4 home games, and have taken 27 points to Everton's 40 from 25 games. Everton on the other hand have been defeated just once in their last 13 games from all competitions. However, Everton haven't won at St James' Park in the Premier League since the 2000/01 season.

Obafemi Martins, Alan Smith and Mark Viduka are all in the squad having recovered from injuries and will all be fighting for pitch time. Also available is Jonas Gutierrez who has completed a one match ban and will be confident in his performance after picking up the NUFC Carling Player Of The Month award.

Danny Guthrie (Hamstring), Michael Owen (Ankle), Joey Barton (Foot) and Habib Beye (Knee) are all out with long term injuries whilst Andy Carroll (Ankle) and Xisco (Toe) are due back in early March.

David Moyes will be without Tony Hibbard and Tim Cahill as both are serving one match suspensions. Everton also have several players absent through injury including Osman (Stomach Muscle Tear), Fellaini (Back) and Piernaar (Hamstring) who are all doubts but are working hard to be fit to feature.

Fact: If he plays, Nicky Butt will be making his 100^th appearance in a Newcastle shirt and his 400^th appearance of his Premier League career.

We now definitely need some pace upfront - Martins for Ameobi and Jonas for Duff.

Lovenkrands should have scored, Nolan is an idiot, Harper looks a little nervy and we still don't know how to defend!!

hopeless. Everton were@#$%&and we should have started with our strongest team. We are in the@#$%&if we remain with hughton and caulderwood in charge.

Both standing clueless with clip board in hand and only introduced martins when bullied my the crowd constantly shouting for him.

what more could you want we were playing a top 6 team on great form lost a man and still got a draw thats a fantastic result be realistic

if he had played viduka and martins for the 90 and they got injured you would be complaining they were brought back to quick.


taylor and butt didn stop all game covered the whole pitch butt mom for me

I did not mention anyone playing for 90 minutes, I mentioned starting with our strongest team. Everton were missing key players and were crap, so lets not get carried away with this top six tag.

I do not understand the logic of having big guns on the bench in case they are needed. Start with them, score some goals and then if need be, rest them and bring some crapper players on to defend the lead.

Cant wait to see the back of butt. The only good decision Hopeless Hughton made was leaving the useless headless no crossing Jonas on the bench.

WE NEED A MANAGER.

I thought.

Harper was ok made a good reaction save early on.

S.taylor worked his sock off and played well.

R. taylor put in some great deliveries. dont think he did a bad one all game.

Bassong looked impressive again. I hope things get sorted at the toon cos i dont think it will be long before people come calling for him.

collo. meh

butt, Made some important tackles but other than that not much to talk about.

duff, again meh. was glad when he went off.

Nolan. Silly tackle at a time when we were starting to get it together. other than that no real impact.

Lovenkrands, missed a sitter has good pace but did`nt have a lot of service.

Ameobi, Useless was glad when he went off. contributed nothing to the team. waste of space.

Guti. Some nice runs and got back to defend too but woeful end product i`m afraid to say.

Martins, looked good some nice touches and passing. nice to see him back.

If they wanted to play a big man up front then at least start with Viduka and not Shola. We even had Smith on the bench if he couldnt last the full 90. Felt as though Hughton/calderwood bottled the team choice with just putting out the same team as last week.

Duff was woefull and shouldnt have kept Jonas out but I do agree with Toonbart that he needs to add end product. He just tries to take one too many touches. But be fair to the man, he came off the bench and we had a man down so he was never going to be able to get forward as much.

Daft tackle by Nolan in a nothing area. He will be a miss.

Thought the defence were class though, especially Bassong and Enrique.

Whatever players they had missing Everton are a top team and well organised. They spanked Villa in their last game so a point with ten men im sort of happy with. Just thought they were there for the taking.

did anyone else notice how many crosses we put in there box? There must have been 20 or 30 and not 1 was met by an attempt? Unbeleivable, shearer would have had a field day! I was screaming for viduka to come on as he would have met a few of those crosses! Why on earth we employed that kind of approach to play a wide game with crosses into the box is beyond me, especialy if we have no target man? So they bring oba on, a guy who needs the ball over the top or run onto things, makes no sence, poor tactical approach!
