Gutierrez Carrying A Knock & Not 100% Fit

Joe Kinnear has defended his decision to place Midfielder, Jonas Gutierrez on the bench for today's 3-0 defeat at Ewood Park citing his fitness as the reason. The 25 year old warmed the bench until the 79th minute, when he came on for Damien Duff, but hopefully he will be fit for next week's Premier League game after today's result saw Newcastle fall to 13th, just 3 points from the drop zone.

Kinnear told the Official Site; 

"I know the fans like to see certain players but the truth is we were lucky to have Spiderman on the bench today as he's another one who has been carrying a bit of a knock.

That's the position we are in. I had lads on the bench who aren't 100% fit but I had to have them because we are so crippled with injuries right now."
