New Signing Vuckic Pleased To Have Joined NUFC

Newcastle yesterday signed 16 year old Slovenian Haris Vuckic from NK Domzale after Dennis Wise thrashed out a deal between the two clubs. Domzale president is said to have allowed the move because he is sure the teenager will be going to a big club with a loyal crowd. Newcastle are said to have beaten AC Milan to his signature despite Vuckic recently trialling at the Italian club.

Vuckic told the official NK Domzale website;

"I am very pleased that I've got the opportunity to go to such a great club like Newcastle United. This seems to be an important step on my way further into the world of football.

I was very well received at the club and I hope that, with their help, I will continue to evolve in the right direction."

President Matej Orazem said of the move;

"This is one of the biggest clubs in England with a rich tradition and one of the most loyal crowds in the country.

So far, no Slovenian player has signed a contract with as big a club as Newcastle United FC. For Haris, this is a great and huge opportunity for the continuation of a successful football career."

The 6ft 2in, attacking midfielder is viewed as one of Europe's most promising youngsters and he has signed a 3 and a half year deal with Newcastle.

Think you have got to view these kids as kids and for the future.

I think we've signed enough promising youngsters now to make a starting 11...we might actually have a good squad in 5 years time.

Good times (Sm128)

To me it's worrying that none of them have been good enough to break into the first team unaided by injuries. Even our best prospect over the last couple of seasons, LuaLua, is consistently kept on the bench by Butt, Guthrie, Duff et al. I just don't think we have any potential stars down there yet.

I think we've got to give these kids time to develop. Many of them are still teenagers, so we can't just expect to throw them in the deep end, as playing for Newcastle has more pressure than most clubs and that's what JFK has been trying to do I think, just protect them a bit. Here's the ages of our young imported prospects:

Kadar 18,
Zamblera 18,
Ngo Baheng 19 (currently injured),
Soderberg 18,
Tozer 18,
Ranger 17,
Spear 15,
Vuckic 16,
Ferreira 18.

We need to work with them and who knows some of them may just become stars, not now but in the future.

We will only get a season out of any that come good and then they will be sold for profit. Maybe not a bad thing, but i am not convinced they are here for the good of the first team.

we have enough problems in the first team without taking risks on the young guys. if we were to get safe, great, hoy them in, hoy them all in at once for me, but if we need points its safety first

Fine then, but I don't want to hear them go from "needing more time" to being completely slated (by some) over the course of a season or two (like Taylor and Milner).

Ranger seems like one of our best prospects at the moment, he keeps banging the goals in. Aboot the same age as when Owen and Rooney started anarl.
