Aided by more youngsters?

Today, FIFA passed a new law which will no doubt change the nature of the game in England. It has been decided that, at the start of the 2009/2010 season, all teams will be required to field at least 4 players in their 16-man squad who have been registered in English football, for at least 3 years before they turn 21.

The rule has been brought in to stop teams from drafting in the best in the world to win cups for them, and making them bring through youngsters eligible for England. Not only this, but it brings back a much needed Britishness to the game on a whole. With lots of silky foreigners coming in and taking the game by storm, a lack of English grit and hard work has been somewhat missing from the game.

When asked about the rule, new Watford manager Brendan Rogers said "It's a step in the right direction to get the young talents through.

That way of working is either in your heart or not. I think you have to believe in the development of young players and young people and I am that type of manager that likes to see the talents come through.

I like to see the growth of young players; they need to get a start somewhere. I believe in that philosophy."

Taking a look at the Blackpool squad, the Seasiders should not be in any danger of violating the rule.With enough English players to make a full 16 already, Pool fans should not worry about being sanctioned for this rule any time soon.
