Villa Block Loan Move For Hendry

It has emerged Glenn Hoddle made a deadline day move for one club man Lee Hendry, but Aston Villa refused to release the former England defender.

On Thursday Glenn Hoddle tried to sign Lee Hendry on loan from Villa, but was turned down by O'leary, who despite not using him so far, says he is needed at the club.

It sounds like Hendry would have accepted as he wants games, but the club blocked it

"A loan move would have meant games for me," said Hendrie. "I didn't ask to go out on loan. I had a few phone calls about me going.

"Southampton asked and I think Wolves did as well - I just want to get games under my belt and there's no reserve games for a couple of weeks.

"A four or five week loan until the transfer window wouldn't have hurt.

"So it was an option for me - not because I want to - because I want to stay here.

"It didn't matter where, it wouldn't have been permanent. It was just something to get me playing and get me some confidence."

Cheers David, remind us to repay the favour some day.
