Wolves confirm proposed McNamara signing

Wolverhampton Wanderers Chief Executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that Jackie McNamara is set to sign for Wolves today, subject to passing a medical.

The Celtic skipper was offered a one year deal at the Scottish giants but told Ireland On Line “I never imagined my time at Celtic would end like this. I would have preferred to have signed a new contract with the club several months ago.

“It was really disappointing that didn’t happen and disappointing that there was only a one-year deal on the table when it finally came.

“I had always hoped to finish my career with Celtic but I felt I was in a position where I had to make a choice that was the right one for my family and myself in the circumstances.”

Wolves have also fought of competition from Wigan and West Ham United. We will give you news as and when the deal is confirmed.
