BRAVE Wolves youngsters crashed out of the FA Youth Cup Semi Final to Southampton on penalties after a thrilling game at a packed Molineux Stadium.

The Wolves Under 18's trailed 1-0 from the home leg in Southampton after the first leg just over a week ago.

Southampton, who were firm favourites for the competition opened the scoring after just ten minutes when McGoldrick slotted past Wolves goalkeeper Hennessy.

The game started to peter out in the second half but for an amazing turn around by the Wolves youngsters.

First it was Stewart who gave Wolves a lifeline with just 20 minutes to go and the game was then put totally in the balance when super sub Fitzpatrick scored a fabulous chip from 30 yards.

Stephen Gleeson was then sent off for the home side in the second half of extra time, but England Youth Captain Mark Davis popped up with what looked like the winning goal for Wolves eight minutes from time.

Sadly though the Ten men of Wolves were unable to hold on and the impressive Best knocked the ball home from close range after a tussle in the area.

The game went to penalties and Wolves were unable to move through to the next round, saints winning from the spot 5-4.

The 10,000 strong crowd then gave both sides a standing ovation after a fabulous tie and we wish Southampton the very best in the final against Ipswich.
