WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers have been cleared of any blame for the Firework Horror which occurred prior to a Premier League game with Newcastle United.

The Wolverhampton City Council have confirmed that they will prosecute Wolverhampton based Firework Company Jubilee Fireworks, following a firework which hit a female spectator in the face prior to a Premiership game last season.

A firework which was used as part of a display as the players entered the Molineux Turf moved off course, landing in a section of the Wolves crowd, hitting Wolves Fan Denise Butler full in the face.

"A thorough investigation into this most unfortunate incident has been carried out by the local authority and it has concluded that the company responsible for the display, Jubilee Fireworks, should be prosecuted." Said Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey.

"The report also clears Wolverhampton Wanderers FC of any blame whatsoever."

Jez Moxey also added that Wolves held all the correct licenses and confirmed that fireworks, as a result of the incident, will now be banned from Molineux.

"The club held the proper licences to carry out firework displays of this kind at Molineux and had used the same company for similar shows prior to matches for two years, without problem.

"We deeply regret what happened on that afternoon and as a consequence the club has changed its policy so that fireworks are no longer used at the stadium."
