Football, what a funny old game. A week ago at Kidderminster Wolves were poor, but despite the poor showing, Wolves could have won the game. On Saturday at Charlton Wolves were superb....We Lost. CHARLTON 2-0 WOLVES

Wolves were without the suspended Paul Butler so it was time for Mark Clyde to make his Premiership debut, but what a debut in the worlds greatest league it was.

 Clyde showed promise in his brief spell in the squad last year but at The Valley on Saturday he proved he has what it takes to become a top defender. The senior players around him were there to help, but it was Clyde`s vocal presence, leading of the back line and composure which the others should maybe learn from.

 On the whole, it was incredible that Wolves lost this game. If you had landed from Mars to watch this game you would have thought Wolves were the side hoping for a place in the Champions League such was their dominance but Charlton took the points, simply because they take their chances.

 Wolves had an average first half. Charlton keeper Kiely made one superb save from Blake but it was Jason Euell who opened the scoring for the home side in controversial circumstances.

 The ball was threaded through the Wolves back line whilst Euell appeared to be more than just a fraction offside. If the decision was dodgy there was nothing dodgy about the finish as Euell slipped the ball past Oakes whilst one on one. 

 Luzhny replaced Lee Naylor at the break and Wolves poured forward playing some of the best football that any top team has played at The Valley this season - Curbishley`s words, not ours.

 Despite the dominance, Camara continued to miss whilst Kiely continued to pull off more superb saves and then, sods law!

 Charlton broke with Scott Parker and the ball deflected off Denis Irwin straight into the path of Euell who made no mistake from scoring from two yards.

 Game over whilst the defeat was un-deserved but whilst we fail to score we will fail to climb the table.
