The Football Association are expected to launch an investigation after a firework smashed into a Female Wolves Fans Face as the Wolves and Newcastle players entered the Molineux pitch.

The drama stunned Molineux prior to the Newcastle game yesterday and stunned viewers who were watching the match which was televised Live by SKY Sports.

The horrific accident happened as club officials let off a pyrotechnic firework display as the players emerged from the Molineux tunnel.

Four of the five fireworks took off perfectly, but one went off horizontal to the pitch and landed in the Family Enclosure of the Billy Wright stand.

A female fan, recently named as Denise Butler of Telford, was hit in the face by the firework. Seven others, including young children all needed first aid.

Paramedics, including Newcastle United Club Doctor Chris Biggins, dashed to the scene to help sort out the terror.

Newcastle star Lumana LuaLua said "I'm not sure what happened but the firework had obviously been toppled over for it to fly into the crowd,"

"It flew past us when we were warming up, and it wasn't too far away from hitting Lee Bowyer and a couple of other lads.

"I saw the woman with blood coming from her head and it was a bit of a shock. Hopefully she'll be OK, it could have been a lot, lot worse."

Denise Butler`s husband rushed to Wolverhampton`s New Cross Hospital and said "She looks OK but is in a lot of pain. The firework burned one of her eyes and singed her eyelashes off. It has also burned her face".

Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey has confirmed that this was the last time fireworks will be used at Molineux, and as a result may signal the end of fireworks in football ground across the country.
