Youngster Taylor Signs Contract Extension

Tranmere Rovers youngster Ashton Taylor has today signed a one-year contract extension in the second piece of transfer news in 24 hours to come out of Prenton Park following the signing yesterday of Joss Labidie on a two-year deal.......
Just one day after Tranmere completed the signing of midfielder Joss Labadie, the Prenton Park club have today announced that defender Ashton Taylor has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
Taylor, who rose through the clubs youth ranks, was recently called up to the Wales U-21 squad for the first time after his first full season with the Tranmere first team.
The youngster, who is from the Wirral, signed his first professional contract with Tranmere on New Years Eve 2008, before signing a new two-year contract last summer.
Voted by the supporters as Tranmere's Young Player of the Season, Taylor made 41 appearances for the club this season, after making his debut on the final day of the 2008/09 season against Scunthorpe, a year which also saw him spend time out on loan at Colwyn Bay.
Taylor, who can play in central midfield or central defence, has been tipped as a future Tranmere captain and is certainly a player who has impressed since making his first team debut.
On the contract extension, Tranmere boss Les Parry told the clubs official site "Ash did really well for us last season and I'm delighted we have been able to extend his contract.
"He's versatile, hard working and enthusiastic and he deserves this contract extension.
"He is yet another great example of the talented youngsters the Club has developed through it's Centre of Excellence and Youth system".
Taylor is the first player to sign a contract extension this summer, though the Wirral side are still waiting to hear from six players on whether they will sign new contracts at Prenton Park, including John Welsh and Craig Curran.

Any statto's remember the last time two players signed contracts at Tranmere in May....
its already looking better than lst summer hehe
For all the effort he gives he certainly isn't the greatest quality wise and I wouldn't be held to ransom by him and his agent..
He'd struggle to get another L1 club IMO.

If the rumour about Curran is true then i am dissapointed. For someone who is meant to be Rovers through and through, i would think he would except that we have no money and settle. I agree that we should not break the bank to keep him because for all his running, the quality is not there.
I still think he can offer us a lot but I would not have him hold us to ransom.
He wasn't fit properly this season and people built him up to be a saviour when realistically this wasn't going to happen.
Look back at last seasons performances, Oldham, Leicster, in fatc basically our run in he was the keyman and as Dave said earlier.. "When he got injured it kind of all fell apart"
