Tranmere Rovers have today completed the signing of midfielder Joss Labadie on a two-year contract.

The 19-year old joins Tranmere from West Brom, after being release by the Hawthorns club following the end of the 2009/10 season.

Labadie spent the final two months of the season at Prenton Park after joining Rovers from West Brom on loan.

After breaking into the first team following an injury to Paul McLaren, the youngster became an immediate success, as he scored three goals in Tranmere's final five games of the season.

Earlier experience in the Football League for the player came in League Two, as he spent time on loan at Shrewsbury Town and Cheltenham Town during the 2009/10 season, netting five goals in eleven games for the Shrews.

Labadie then re-signs at Prenton Park as a goalscoring player, who has bags of potential, energy and commitment.

Tranmere's interim manager Les Parry, who is expected to be named as the club's long term manager in the next ten days, told the club's Official Site......

"Joss really impressed us during his time on loan at the club.  He was hard working, professional and performed well on the pitch...

"To be able to bring a player of Joss' calibre to the club shows the club's commitment to improving the squad, and Joss is just the first of many new faces we want to bring to Tranmere this summer".

There's a sell on fee from West Brom in his contract so if we sell him, West Brom will make something out of it

Why is there a sell on fee when West Brom released him? Surely's he's a free agent? If he's a free agent and West Brom have a selll on clause still that simply shouldn't be the case. If you release a player you should forfeit your right to a sell on clause.

Great Signing though.

I'm made up we've signed him, he made a difference when Les started him.

He seemed passionate about playing for us, which is what I love to see in a player.

Good start to the pre season!

Maybe West Brom released him with the sell on clause as part of the deal as they knew we couldn't afford a fee,but who cares?,we have a quality young player who wants to play for the shirt, that's what's important
