Pre-Season Match Thread/Team Line-Ups - Huddersfield v NUFC
By Tyne-Talk

Newcastle United have announced their line-up for tonight's pre-season friendly against Huddersfield Town at their Galpharm Stadium. Both Bassong and Obafemi Martins are missing from the squad, but Andy Carroll starts as does Kazenga LuaLua and Xisco. Shola Ameobi starts on the bench but will be looking to have some pitch time after scoring at the weekend.
Huddersfield Town
Alex Smithies, Lee Pelyier, Joe Scarz, Michael Collins, Peter Clarke (c), Gary Roberts, Anthony Kay, Theo Robinson, Robbie Simpson, Andy Butler, Anthony Pilkington
Subs
Simon Eastwood, Nathan Clarke, Jim Goodwin,Tom Clarke, Robbie Williams, Lee Novak, James Berrett, Lionel Ainsworth.
Newcastle United
Steve Harper (c), Habib Beye, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Jonas Gutierrez, Joey Barton, Danny Guthrie, Kazenga LuaLua, Andy Carroll, Xisco
Subs
Fraser Forster, Tamas Kadar, James Tavernier, Kevin Nolan, Damien Duff, Ryan Taylor, Alan Smith, Ryan Donaldson, Samuel Adjei, Shola Ameobi.
2 fights, 1 at the end of each half. First involved all 22 men, was the highlight to be honest. A Huddersfield player appeared to say something to Habib before they started tussling and it carried on all the way to the tunnel at half time.
Nolan finished well for his goal, nice little chip into the bottom corner. We dominated really but had trouble finishing, we looked scared of shooting to be honest. Jonas looked as if he was playing with an injury, either that or he was nowhere near fit.

Looks like a sale showcase lineup to me. Can't get excited hearing about players who, come the start of the season either won't be with the club or whose wages will bankrupt us.
I heard Barton was trying to calm down the situation, so f@cks knows what was up with him.
I agree Tunyc about the players not being there come the start of the season, most won't be there so why give them games and we should have been giving as much time on the players that will be getting us up.
Honestly, I think players are being given games to remind potential buyers of what they can do. Look at that starting lineup: Coloccini, Gutierrez, Xisco, Barton, Enrique and likely Beye will all be sold if possible. I don't necessarily consider Guthrie or S. Taylor completely safe, either.
Guthrie, Taylor and Beye could stay if the takeover happens and Shearer comes in quickly, if it doesn't then you can't blame them going and they will go. The rest will go but that wouldn't be a shock due to the money side of it
