Kevin Keegan will be taking his Premier League stars to Majorca for a pre season tournament which also features Real Mallorca, Hertha Berlin and Hannover 96, who replace Manchester City after they pulled out due to qualifying for the UEFA Cup. The Summer International Cup takes place between August 1st and 3rd. A spokesman for The Majorca Daily Bulletin said they are expecting approximately 60,000 fans to be on the island to watch the matches which are yet to be announced by Newcastle.
Despite the lack of noise on Tyneside the tournament and its entrants have been confirmed by Ylan Singer who is organising the Cup. He said:
"It is all official. Newcastle United will be going to Majorca along with Hertha Berlin and Hannover 96 for the competition with Real Mallorca, which will take place in the Ono Stadium.
The two semi-finals will be on August 1 with the final and game for third and fourth place two days later. We are now talking to both of the German clubs and Newcastle about the distribution of tickets and details will be available soon."
Keegan is also preparing for at least 2 other pre season games in August with Valencia likely to travel to England and Doncaster Rovers hoping to attract United to Yorkshire.
