Newcastle United's out of favour defender David Rozehnal has attracted the attention of Serie A teams Genoa and Siena. Unfortunately for Rozehnal during his 6 month loan spell at Lazio he failed to impress enough to be offered a permanent contract with the Rome club, however, it is likely Newcastle would be open to bids from other clubs but with Lazio having first refusal.
Rozehnal who was signed by Sam Allardyce nearly a year ago on a 4 year deal made just 21 appearances for Newcastle and was shifted into a midfield role when Kevin Keegan was appointed after Allardyce’s departure in January 2008. At the time it was expected that Lazio would take the 27 year old Czech Republic International permanently once the 6 months was up, however he didn’t get as many games as he thought and despite telling the press he was keen to stay, Lazio haven’t publically declared a continued interest.
It is thought a permanent deal would see Newcastle re-coup the £2.9million fee they paid last summer.
