Les Post-Match: "Referee Was the Difference"

After Tranmere's 2-0 defeat away at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, Manager Les Parry was critical of the refereeing decisions against Rovers during the match.....
Tranmere Manager Les Parry was highly critical of referee Chris Sarginson following his side's 2-0 away defeat at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon whilst also praising young debutant Max Power who started for Rovers for the first time in central midfield.
Parry told Tranmere Player.....
"We've come to play a team who will go up automatically. We've given a great account of ourselves, they've scored a great first goal and I thought the difference between the two sides was the referee."
"The first goal, the lad has handballed it and he's given a free kick against us. He's booked Enoch for diving when he's got a six inch cut in his sock and a two inch cut on the side of his shin. He's not given us a cast iron penalty and that's what makes it disappointing."
"I couldn't have a go at the lads. We've had some great chances, they have too, it was an open game, but they're a great side. It's disappointing that it should be the referee who differentiates between the two sides."
Max Power made his Tranmere debut at Huddersfield on Saturday
"The fact they can bring Gary Roberts off the bench says everything about Huddersfield. He's a quality player who would walk into any side."
"You've always got to be concerned when you're not scoring goals. There were two or three chances where we didn't even make the keeper make a save. We caused them a lot of problems from our set plays but it's no good heading it over the bar. But it's no good moping around, we've got to get up and bounce back from it."
"Max (Power) is 18 and you think will it be too much for a young lad coming to the Galpharm Stadium? But I think it's better they make their debut away from home as there's less pressure. He acquitted himself very well and the lads gave him a round of applause in the dressing room."
"On Thursday I spoke to David Moyes and we'd agreed he was going to lend us one of our players, but in training he kicked the ground and pulled a thigh. We've tried to push another one through which we'll try and do over the weekend."
Rovers defender David Raven added....
"They scored two good goals but we could have had a few ourselves with a bit more composure in the box or the final ball. I thought we should have had a stonewall penalty. Lucas has gone inside the lad and the full back has brought him down. There were a few decisions that were poor from the referee."
"We've looked solid, fit and strong. The lads are all working for each other and to come to a place like Huddersfield and be disappointed not to get a point is a good sign.
"It's gone now, we can take the positives from it and move on to Carlisle on Tuesday. If we could get six points from Tuesday and Saturday it would be massive. We've got to stay positive and take each game as it comes."
