Huddersfield Town v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
September 9 2011
If you can't make Tranmere's game away at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
Where possible, Total Tranmere's admin team will post reports at half-time on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it and of course there will also be all the post-match examination of the game by fans who went to the match.
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of course travel to the Galpharm Stadium to face Huddersfield Town in NPower League One on Saturday afternoon so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible. Unfortunately a Twitter update service from @totaltranmere will not be available for this game but @MikeJacksonTRFC will try to bring some kind of update service during this game for those who usually rely on our Twitter fee for updates.
Just got back. We were poor today, did not keep the ball at all and looked vulnerable every time they attacked. Going forward we were were abysmal. There is no thought when we have the ball, its just play into space for Enoch without even looking up.
Yes they are a good side and all that, but I expect us to be better. Every time they got a corner or a free kick they nearly scored. Ash was poor, and after praising Weir last week has was very poor today, lost count the amount of times he gave it away. Power was the best of the 3, Welsh again losing the ball several times.
I said at the start of the season scoring goals will be the problem and I maintain that. Of course it is worse without Robbo and Devaney, but still expect us to be better.
Carlisle and Wycombe are now important, no goals in 2 games and 1 point.
Problem today was that the final ball was horrendous OR the player receiving the final ball wasn't anticipating it.
Max played in Weir - he just gave up.
Tiryaki played Lucas in.. he stopped running.
On the other side though, when Max was in a great position in front of goal the ball from Enoch was shocking!
Had we got the (blatant) penalty though, or had their 'keeper not made a great save from John Welsh's shot (both when we were 1-0 down) it would've been different imo, we may have got a point.
Have to say though, our defending (as a team, not the 4 defenders) from set pieces is absolutely abysmal. We don't pick the men up, we don't follow their runs and we don't clear the ball properly - which is exactly how they scored today.
Got to improve on defending set pieces, its not just today I've noticed it being poor, at Brentford it was shocking too.
How many shots on target did we have? At the end of the day the only statistic that matters is the score but if you don't hit the target enough you won't win the game.

Correct. And often we don't leave anyone forward so that if the ball is cleared it comes straight back again.
u are all miserable c****
we were were ok against a very good side. Without their first wonder goal, and it was a beut, we looked for long periods the better team.
Stop your f*****ng moaning or go and watch Everton u knobheads

Ok we're all miserable chaps and we should stop our flipping moaning but I'm trying to think what your last word is
To put it in a nicer way, there are more 'glass is half empty' views on this thread than in other forums where views are more balanced. That is, the positives are also mentioned.
Matt34 Tranmere created 10 chances, but none were on target.
I also am aware of a possible penalty and an offside, but all that aside, you need to be more clinical when you get chances.
Creating them was not a major issue, but directing then where they should go was.
Apparently 'the only difference between the sides was the referee'. So it was his fault we lost and his fault that we can't/couldn't shoot straight and Huddersfield can/could.
those that were expecting a win yesterday are a bit deluded in my opinion we were playing a squad that would most likly do well in the championship never mind league 1 yes we got beat to a very good side it not like we were playing bury or wycombe and we can come on here and say we were poor to come on here a criticse the squad for a defeat against a strong team is in some ways wrong
well I'm not disheartened ! and think the lads did ok against a good side ! kept on till the end ! still just 7 games played and I think that there is plenty of reason to be pleased with how we've started ! and optimistic for the rest of the season ! stopped using a Glass a long time ago ! used to spill too much ha
I never expected a win, but creating 10 chances and not getting any on target it would seem, means you are competing with them, but not doing anything to put them off their stride.
If Tranmere had gotten an equaliser it could have been so much different. They held their own pretty well it seems, for parts of the game, but the finishing was not calculated enough to cause a problem.
The referee in my opinion was in part influencial, I mean if Les sees a 2 inch cut on Showunmi's ankle, then how can the referree bot see it, say he dived and fail to award something?
Would he have had to have Showunmi's foot hanging off, before the referee noticed he'd been caught?
I think the result was a little unfortunately. Great goal for their first, but Tranmere were worth a 2-1 defeat, maybe a 1-1.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

That's assuming the cut happened in that particular incident.

Sorry, did you say what team you supported last time I asked ? agian, sorry, if I missed your answer last time

You can play well and get beaten or you can play poorly and get beaten.
Parry says Hudders are an automatic promotion side and the only difference was the referee.
I'd like him to expand on that.
Must watch for the Bury and Wycombe results when we meet them.
Mikey is spot on when talking about defending set pieces, really was poor.
Going forward we just seem to get to the edge of the area and either have a shot that is nowhere near, or make a wrong pass. There is no cohesiona and thought about it. That is why when teams come to us, like yeovil, and we are expected to brake them down, we struggle badly.
