Lincoln are said to be counting the costs after apparantly failing to reach the break-even target for Lincoln Live. Just over 13,000 people turned up on Saturday evening and that is believed to be a few thousand short of the break-even target in what could ultimately be a bad move.
Westlife, Lee Ryan, Liberty X and Journey South performed at Lincoln Live on Saturday and all reports indicate it was apparantly a good show, however, if the reports are true that Imps could potentially have lost a significant amount, it will ultimately go down as a waste of time and more importantly, the club's money.
I personally was at a party less than 2 minutes walk from Sincil Bank and for large sections of the night, all you could hear was music from Dolly Parton, Steps and other pop acts coming from the stadium. The most frustrating thing though about the night was that walking back to the party after going to the shops, I walked by several people who said it was a waste of their time and money and several people refered to it as a rip off.
In all fairness, it was ambitious by the club to put on a concert of this relative size and all praise but go to Liz Hobbs, the prodominant organiser of the even but on the broad scale of things, this may well turn into a very bad decision by the club to put a significant amount of the club's money into this, made even worse by the fact that the vast majority of people who went didn't seem to appreciate it.
