Hereford will visit Sincil Bank next season after winning the conference playoffs final in extra time over Halifax. Hereford twice came from behind to beat the Shaymen and it will be the first time Hereford have featured in the league since relegation in 1996/7 on goal difference.

It was a pretty even final although Halifax had the better of it and deservedly took the lead in the 27th minute when Killeen shot from about 25 yards to send around 8,000 fans in the Walkers Stadium wild, however, Williams made the other 10,000 very noisy on 34 minutes when he equalised via a header. Halifax retook the lead when John Grant flicked a cross to the far post and in, however, former Imp Guy Ipoua equalised with a powerful header to send the game into extra time. However, Hereford took the lead for the first time in the match with 3 minutes of second half injury time gone and they held onto their lead.

Unlike the Imps, they won at their 4th crack of the playoffs after losing the previous 3 and they will fancy their chances in the league after just 39 defeats in the last 168 league games. The last time they visited Sincil Bank ended in a 3-3 draw.

23 of the 24 teams are now known for next season and only the playoff final between Grimsby and Cheltenham will determine all the members of the 24.
