Lincoln City are just 4 draws away from breaking the club record for most drawn games in a season which stands at 18 from the 1984/5 season. So far this season, the Imps had amassed 15 draws from 29 games, including 7 from the last 11 and with 17 games left, the record looks increasingly likely.

The current record of 18 draws, has lasted 20 seasons but the current crop of Sincil Bank players are almost guaranteed to break that record. The draws that season came against Hulll, Rotherham (twice), Plymouth, Bournemouth, Newport, Brentford (twice), Cambridge, Walsall, Derby, Reading, Bristol Rovers, Orient, Swansea, Bristol City, Walsall and Bradford.

21 seasons and not only will this record more than likely fall, but it will more than likely be smashed as the Imps have currently drawn more than half of the games this season. City's sides under Keith Alexander have a habit of drawing games, especially games where they were in the lead. In the 167 league (none playoff) games since Keith Alexander returned as manager in 2002/3, the Imps have drawn 60 times and that has arguably been the main reason that the Imps have failed to win promotion in any of the previous season. What's even more surprising is that out of those 60 drawns, the Imps lead in 27 of those games, a furthur 20 of those being 0-0.

The draws that City have had this season will more than likely cost the Imps promotion because despite City being 13th, only top of the table Wycombe (2 defeats) and 5th place Northampton (4 defeats) have lost fewer games than the Imps (7 defeats), however, only Macclesfield, Barnet, Torquay, Rushden and Stockport have failed to win more games than the Imps and if/when the record is broken, it will more than likely signal the end of the Imps' already slim chances of the playoffs.
