Beevers' delight and misery

Imps' defender, Lee Beevers had a mixed time with his Welsh Under 21 counterparts that ended in a 4-0 defeat to England Under 21s. Beevers was invited to train with the full squad ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers this week and he apparantly impressed the Welsh boss, John Toshack.

Beevers, along with several other members of the Under 21s, was asked to join the full nationial squad on Wednesday and Thursday, meaning Beevers was training with such names as Giggs and Hartson. Toshack was apparantly over the moon with Beevers' contribution to the sessions and it could earn him a full call up before long.

However, it quickly went bad for Beevers. He took part in the Welsh Under 21s vs England Under 21s at Wrexham's Racecourse Stadium and came out on the end of a 4-0 battering. A quick fire John Stead goal was followed by Peter Whittingham's first Under 21 goal to give England a 2-0 lead into half time. Michael Dawson made it 3-0 midway through the 2nd half and Whittingham was again on the scoresheet with a minute to go to make the final score, 4-0.
