Imps defender Ben Futcher has decided to reject the deal offered at Sincil Bank and sign for rivals Boston United. Just a year after he put in a transfer request to join a team in a higher division, he joins a team that have NEVER finished higher than the Imps.
Futcher, who joined the Imps from Stalybridge Celtic has rejected the new contract at Sincil Bank and has instead decided to pen a deal with the Pilgrims.
Evans told United's official site, “I have admired Ben for a long time and I am delighted that he has joined us. The boy gives us great height defensively and is a major threat from all attacking set plays. I have also spoken to one of our own strikers, namely Jason Lee, and he himself describes Ben as the best, or at least one of the best defenders in the Coca-Cola League.”
This will come as a major shock to Imps fans, not just for the fact he's joined Boston, just fo r the fact he said a year ago he wanted to play at a higher level. He becomes the 4th first team player in 7 days to officially reject the offer of a new contract and leave Sincil Bank.
